The Crew

Showit was born out of my own desire as a wedding photographer to have a unique website. I knew what I wanted and dreamed of all the different options. Then I got really bummed because there was no way I was going to be able to do it, and I didn't have an extra $10,000 to hire someone. But I did have a friend - Todd Watson.

I've known Todd since I was 12 years old and we've been friends ever since. I called Todd up and begged and pleaded with him to help build my dream website. Like most friends I promised to pay him even though I didn't have any money and like most web designers he promised the site would be done in a couple of months. Almost a year later I still had no money and he was "almost done". That is when the seed of Showit was sewn. Photographers needed a TOOL (not a template) in order to use the web effectively.

The first thing we built was an application to make beautiful slideshows that was fast and easy to use. Before Todd was completely done with the first version we put it up on my website and literally overnight the orders came pouring in. Within months we had hundreds of users. We currently have over 12,000 photographers using Slideshow in 43 different countries!

When my wedding photography website finally did launch the feedback was tremendous. People wanted a site like mine that showcased not only their photographs but also showcased them. But they also wanted control to change and update their site. From this feedback the idea of Showit was born. We rallied some more of our friends and took a huge leap that people would embrace the freedom to control and customize their own website. When we started this journey over three years ago we had no idea if people really wanted what they said they wanted...freedom. Turns out they did. We won't say it's been easy, but we will say it's been worth it. Every second of it.

Technically I suppose there are now 12 of us here at Showit. But our family is bigger than that. Every day we are thrilled to see the new websites that are published and how users are expressing who they are and what they do through their website. We are a family and we want to welcome you into it as we all join together to create something unique. We're here because of you. We're here for you.
